Question 1: I heard on the news that we are no longer supposed to breathe for the person who needs CPR?
Answer 1: In a perfect world we are still supposed to do breathing with compressions for the person who needs CPR. What you may have heard about is something called "Hands only CPR." This is all of the normal steps of CPR with exception of the breaths. This was created for those people who in a CPR emergency would like to help someone, but may not have the proper barrier for self protection in mouth to mouth breathing. Please note that it is not possible to make a barrier, if you do not have a proper barrier then you have no barrier.
Question 2: Do I still need to wash my hands if I use hand sanitizer?
Answer 2: YES. Hand sanitizer is not a replacement for good old fashioned soap and hot water. Hand sanitizer is for those times when you don't have access to soap and hot water, and if you have used hand sanitizer three or four times in a row, then it is time to wash your hands. Also, if you use hand sanitizer too much you can kill the natural bacteria that you need to fight off common illnesses such as a cold!
Question 3: How old do you have to be to take a CPR / First Aid class?
Answer 3: There is no age limitation on who can or cannot take a course. However, in the practical application of the skills a child may not be able to do chest compression with the force needed on another person. Yet it is good knowledge to have and during the class we go over the skills needed to aid someone having a choking emergency which kids may be able to do.
Question 4: I have a very busy schedule and I have an infant / young child, can you come to my house and do a class for me and/or my family and can my infant / young child stay with me during the class?
Answer 4: Absolutely, our company specializes in providing training for you on your schedule, whether the course is at your home or office, in the day or evening, during the week or on the weekend we can schedule a class that will fit into your busy life. And we are happy to accommodate you should you need to have your infant / young child stay with you during the class.
Question 5: Are you available to travel out of the southern California area / out of state to teach classes?
Answer 5: Yes, with sufficient notice our staff is able to coordinate a class that is out of the southern California area, or out of the state.
Question 6: Do I receive a certification when I take one of your courses, and when will I receive my CPR/AED/First Aid/ certification card?
Answer 6: Yes, there are several courses that will come with a two year certification card from an accredited and approved training center. Most students receive their certification card upon completion of the course, where as others may receive their card within 5 - 7 business days.
